Get your home ready for Autumn!

Hello September! Autumn has officially arrived!

Many of you are going to start celebrating the joys of cold weather and counting down the days to Christmas.

The Energy Saving Trust survey tells quite a different story.

To keep our homes as warm as we would like to is a struggle for some.

On top of additional jumpers to stay warm and wrap up in the blanket there are straightforward energy-efficiency measures that can help keep you home warm for longer.

Reducing home heat loss

Draught proofing is one of the cheapest and coast effective method to save energy and improve the heat insulation.

However, we need to remember about controlled ventilation- painted shut timbers windows, blocked vents etc. it’s not a way to go.

Balance must be reached between providing the necessary ventilation and avoiding excessive draughts which waste heat and energy.

Maintain your windows and keep you home safe

Up to 26% of heat is lost through poorly insulated windows.

Making your windows more energy efficient will reduce your energy bills and lower your carbon footprint.

Energy efficient glazing covers both double and triple glazing. These are windows with two or more glass panes in a sealed unit.

You can also improve the energy efficiency of your home by installing application of draught proofing systems, or even by using heavy curtains.

Having energy efficient windows could help reduce your carbon footprint and your energy bills.

Additional locks can be inserted into the meeting rails and blocks or stops can be fitted to prevent sashes opening beyond the required height.

We are passionate about the difference that real wood can make to your home.

Please get in touch, and we look forward to working with you on your exciting project!
