Renovation and draught proofing for a Victorian home
Mr. and Mrs. Anderson’s beautiful Victorian house dates from the late 19th century and sits within the Newlands conservation area in Glasgow.
The original sash windows were in very poor condition when we came to the rescue. Many frames and sashes were rotten or painted shut, and draughts made the house uncomfortable in the winter months.
Preserving the original elegant appearance of the property as much as possible, we carried out a full renovation of 15 windows, installing a modern and practically invisible draught proofing system.
Several sash windows were beyond repair, so we fitted new sashes which perfectly match the originals.
New mastic pointing has further improved performance and appearance, and careful preparation before final painting has produced a stunning finished effect.
The newly renovated sash windows haven’t gone unnoticed, with two sets of neighbours calling on our services since we finished the job.
"Our property is over 100 years old and the sash windows were in a bad state when we called MWM Matt Window Mate to give us a quotation. Matthew is a very skilled restoration specialist and has achieved great results with the 15 sash and case windows he was asked to repair. His workmanship is exemplary, and we found him to be punctual, hard working and tidy. We would not hesitate to recommend MWM Matt Window Mate."
