Who we are
MWM is a small family firm owned and operated by craftsman Matthew and his wife Sylwia, with other specialist tradesmen employed when we need them.
We came to Scotland from Poland over fifteen years ago. Settling in Glasgow, we immediately fell in love with the beautiful stonebuilt houses and tenements of the city’s Victorian and Edwardian heyday. Matthew applied his skills to working in the renovation industry, spending six years with a leading local firm as a joiner and sash window specialist before starting his own business.
Now Sylwia takes care of the accounts, administration and marketing, while Matthew is still very much ‘hands on’ with each project.
We know that many homeowners are tempted by the idea of modern replacement windows, but we firmly believe that in most cases, original is best. Not only do restored sash and case windows retain the architectural integrity of the building, but even the timber used in the 19th and early 20th century was of a higher quality than most available today. With sash windows properly restored and repainted using our expert techniques, you can comfortably look forward to another hundred years of service.
Alternatively, new double glazing doesn’t have to be uPVC. We can make and install beautiful new timber sash windows which are practically indistinguishable from the originals, although they’ll bring the heat and sound insulation benefits of double glazing.
Our business is thriving and we are expanding, employing new people and serving a wider area . But we have no plans to subcontract or franchise our business.
When you deal with MWM Matt Window Mate, Matthew and Sylwia will be directly responsible for all of the work. Our business depends on our excellent reputation and we are determined to keep it.
