The owners of this beautiful and traditional blonde sandstone townhouse, built circa 1881 by H&D Barclay in this peaceful Hyndland area, contacted MWM Matt Window Mate to improve the heat lost and appearance of their windows.
This is a fine example of modern, superior design which retains the character and history of the period properties materials, that were expertly designed and installed by MWM Matt Window Mate.
These bespoke timber sash windows have been specially designed to replicated period features in new double-glazed windows.
The existing stain glass was removed from the old single-glazed window frames and carefully restored in the studio. Original stained glass was escalated between two layers of double-glazed units, whilst retaining the traditional appearance and ensuring everything was like for like.
All individual windows at the property were replaced with bespoke timber double-glazed sash windows, finished with Paint & Paper Library and Zoffany paint, creating an unrivalled balance of colour, mood and filled this family home with charm and character.
The goal of this project was not only the replacement of the windows but also maximising the amount of overall visible glass and providing the homeowner with the best view possible.
